The Vermont Department of Education has designated the following as shortage areas for the 2013-14 school year.
- Educational Technology Specialist
- English as a Second Language
- Health Education
- Library Media Specialist
- Modern and Classical Language

Federal Perkins Loan borrowers - If you are a full-time teacher in mathematics, science, foreign languages, bilingual education or any field designated as a shortage area, you may qualify for cancellation of up to 100% of your loan. More information
TEACH Grant recipients - Teaching in any of the above designated areas in a low-income school fulfills your obligation to the TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve. More information
